Making an impressive fashion statement doesn’t have to be expensive, through this DIY tutorial, you will learn how to make yourself a pair of pants from a fabric of your choice or you can repurpose old fabrics that you have, what’s even better is that this design is also very comfortable to wear. So let nothing stop you from making your very first paper bag trousers. Thanks to Tuğba İşler from YouTube for this great sewing tutorial.
Step 1:
Fold the fabric into four, it should measure 86cm (34″) horizontally and 38 cm(15″) vertically. For the right side of the fabric, measure 31cm (12″) horizontally and mark. The other side should now measure 36cm (14″). Still, on the right side of the fabric measure 27cm (11″) upward, mark then draw a curve on the corner.

Step 2:
Now for the left side of the fabric, measure 5cm (2″) upward then another 20cm (8″) above, mark both measurements. Connect each mark on the left side towards the right side. Cut the pattern and have 2 pieces of fabric for the trousers.
Step 3:
Create a pattern for the front pocket, cut then sew all the pieces together. Cut another fabric with a 12cm(5″) x 102cm(40″) measurement. This will be for the edge of the trousers’ waistband. Fold lengthwise then sew, insert a garter by using a safety pin. Sew the garter to secure it in place.
Step 4:
For the belt, get 2 pieces fabric with a 7.4cm(3″) x 63cm(25″) measure. Fold lengthwise and sew, flip it inside out then attach the pieces to each side of the waistband. Lastly, for the edges of the bottom hem, cut another piece of fabric with a measurement of 37cm(15″) x 12cm(5″), then sew it in place.
