Don’t know what to do with your fat quarters? Make them into this fast and easy beginner quilt pattern by Just Get it Done Quilts. I am so in love with how this project turned out, as all colors match each other! Learn how to make it at home by watching the video below.
Press each fat quarter flat, then lay the fabrics. Place the three darkest on the top row, the medium ones in the middle, and the lightest on the bottom. Combine the fabrics into the following groups.
Get group A and layer them from darkest to lightest. Align them along the selvage and the bottom edge. Cut 16″ from the bottom, then cut them in half lengthwise, making 8″ rectangles. Trim off the selvages. Next, cut it in half crosswise, each side should measure 10.75″. Now you have 4 pieces of 10.75×8″ rectangles.
Stack each pile of rectangles on top of each other. Each stack has 12 rectangles that follow the pattern: dark, medium, and light.
Make one cut 1.75″ from the left side, parallel to the edge through all 12 layers. Get one top layer from the left side and place it on the bottom of the stack. Repeat the process with groups B and C.

Get group A blocks again, then stack them in the same order. Align the colors and make another cut, 4.25″ from the left side, parallel to the edge through all twelve pieces. Get the top layer from the left side and place it on the bottom of the stack. Repeat the process with groups B and C.
Stitch one left piece and right piece, right sides together, then press to the right side.
Arrange your fabrics. The blocks with the large dark pieces in the top row, the medium ones in the middle, then the lightest ones in the bottom.
Lay them in 7 rows with 5 blocks on each row. You’ll have one block left over for the back. Sew them in rows. Once done, sew the rows together.
