By making this beginner-friendly four seasons quilt by Missouri Star, you will learn how to create half-square triangles, also known as HSTs. It is perfect for beginners like you since the whole block is made from half-square triangles. This tutorial will also teach you how to make four HSTs at a time. It will make the process faster and easier. If you want to make eight pieces at a time, try the magic 8 method.
Get one print and one background square. Place them right sides together, then sew a 1/4″ seam on all four sides.
Cut them diagonally from corner to corner in both directions so you’ll get 4 pieces of half-square triangles. Open each half-square triangle and press them open.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all 5″ print squares.
Arrange the half-square triangles just like in the photo below, then sew them together with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Sew them in rows first and press them open. Once you are done with the rows, sew them together to make the block. Repeat with the remaining half-square triangles.
