If you’re new to crocheting and are wondering how those crochets in video tutorials managed to flawlessly change the yarn from one color to the other, then this video tutorial by Bella Coco on YouTube is perfect for you. This technique is a crochet basic called the ‘magic knot’ and it is easier to make than you think once you get the hang of it, simply follow the instructions and watch the demonstration closely, and you’ll get it in no time. You can also come back to this tutorial from time to time if you forgot how to do it, but I’m confident that this is something you can master even on the first try. Enjoy!

Take 2 yarns and lay them parallel to each other, then take the upper yarn, and place it over the bottom yarn. Take the end of the bottom yarn from underneath and place it over the upper yarn to make a loop, then push the end through that loop, and pull the knot tightly. Go to the other side, then bring the end of the upper yarn over and underneath the bottom yarn, and insert the end through the loop before pulling the knot tightly. Make sure that each knot is nice and tight, then hold the yarn on each end, and pull them in opposite directions to bring the knot together in the middle. Snip off the excess tail of yarn really close to the knot, then pull it tightly one more time, and you’re done!
