Baby Kisses Quilt with Jenny Doan

It’s one of my favorite patterns, especially if I need something for a last-minute gift. This quilt pattern has always been a favorite, and I’m sure it will become one of your favorites too. Learn how to make it by watching the video tutorial below for the step by step instructions.

Materials:

• 2 packs of 5″ squares
• 1 1/4 yards of background
• 3/4 yards of outer border
• 3 1/4 yards of backing

Directions:

Step 1

Take the background fabric, cut some 2 1/2″ strips, then subcut them into 2 1/2″ squares. Lay a 5″ square and put a 2 1/2″ square on each opposite corner. Sew the squares diagonally from corner to corner. Once done sewing, trim the excess fabric, an inch away from the block. Press open afterward. Make 16 of these blocks. Once you have the 16 blocks, set the 12 pieces aside, then add one more square on either of the sides of the remaining four blocks. Sew them diagonally, trim the excess fabric away, and then press open.

Step 2

Now, assemble the block into a quadrant. The four blocks will all go in the middle, then put the pieces around, making sure every piece is in the right place (follow the diagram above). Sew them in fours, then sew those blocks together to complete one big block. Repeat these steps three more times to make a quadrant and complete the quilt top.
