If you’re from the south, biscuits and gravy is such a breakfast staple. Some prefer white gravy or brown gravy, but gravy is the way of southern living in my opinion. Think of creamy goodness with thick and chunks of sausage all throughout and poured over buttermilk biscuits. You can smother your biscuits with this gravy or layer it. I used to love biscuits and gravy growing up, especially if I want a savory breakfast. I never tried making biscuits and gravy, and after watching Ree Drumond’s YouTube tutorial, it made me realize how simple and easy the recipe is. Some may know her by The Pioneer Woman, but I watched her on The Food Network and she made everything easier to follow.
First, tear small pieces of sausage and add them to your skillet. Brown the sausage over medium-high heat until cooked.
Next, add in the flour, milk, and seasonings. Sprinkle in a gracious amount of black pepper.
Spoon the sausage gravy over warm biscuits and serve for a southern breakfast staple.
