It’s always good in my opinion to look at all the star quilters and check out their favorite methods because you can guarantee they will be tried and true. Of all the quilting personalities on Youtube, no star shines brighter than Jenny Doan from the great state of Missouri. When Jenny teaches us how to make the Kansas City Star quilt block, you can bet your boots it’s the real deal because Jenny herself is a Kansas City Star in my books! In this excellent tutorial, Jenny teaches us how she makes her own quilt binding by cutting two and a half inch strips then sewing them together on a diagonal. Then she guides us step by step on the best way to attach the binding and how to finish the last details by hand.

Materials:

• 1/2  to 1 yard of fabric (to cut strips for the binding)
• A sewing machine
• Thread
• A handheld needle (for last details)

Directions:

First, you will learn how Jenny makes her binding by cutting 2 1/2 inch strips and ironing them in half, then sewing together with a diagonal machine stitch.

Then you will watch Jenny guide you step by step in the attachment of your ultimate binding.
