This multi-purpose DIY project is a great craft to make because it can serve as a trivet, hot pad, pot holder, or simply use it as a Fall hanging ornament, and this is perfect to give as a gift, too! Learn how now by watching this video tutorial by Debs Days on YouTube.
Step 1
Trace the individual parts of the design on the paper side of the fusible web, then cut out each piece ¼ inch away from the line, and fuse to the wrong side of the fabric pieces. Cut out along the traced lines, then remove the backing from the fusible web center, and arrange the applique pieces on the front fabric as shown in the video.
Step 2
Fuse them into place by stitching around the raw edges of each fabric with blanket zigzag stitches. Place the backing fabric on your work surface with its wrong side facing up, then center two batting pieces on top, and place the applique above the layers.
Step 3
Baste the layers together and quilt as desired, then without cutting the backing fabric, trim the batting to match the front of the pot holder, and trim the backing so it measures one inch from the front fabric. Use the backing as the bindings as demonstrated in the video, then add a hanging loop if you like, and you’re done!
