I’ve been seeing turkey chili recipes going around the internet for some time now and it got to a point where I’m craving it so much that I can’t stop thinking about it, I just knew I had to give it a try sooner or later. So, I looked for a recipe that looks very promising, guaranteed delicious, and easy to make, and that’s when I found this one by The Busy Baker on YouTube!

The process of cooking this turkey chili is very simple and you can cook it on your stovetop which makes it convenient if you don’t have or don’t want to use your oven or crockpot. You can also modify the seasonings according to your preference and top it with anything you like if you’re going to make your version extra special. For now, learn the basic steps to making this dish below.

Ingredients for Turkey Chili:

  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 pound of lean ground turkey
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
  • 3 medium carrots, chopped
  • 2 stalks of celery, chopped
  • 1 tsp of dried oregano
  • 2 tsp of smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp of mild chili powder
  • ½ tsp of cumin
  • ½ tsp of salt
  • (15 oz) cans of beans in tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 oz) can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup of tomato sauce
  • 1 cup of chicken stock

For Serving, optional

  • Diced red onions
  • Avocado
  • Shredded cheese
  • Sour cream

How to Make Turkey Chili:

Step 1

Place a large pot on a stove over medium heat, then add the olive oil, and heat it before adding the ground turkey. Break the meat apart, then cook it for about 5 minutes until nice and brown, and then add the onion, garlic, carrots, celery, dried oregano, smoked paprika, mild chili powder, cumin, and salt.

Step 2

Give them a good mix and keep cooking for a few more minutes until the veggies have softened, then add the beans, canned tomatoes, tomato puree, and chicken stock, and stir everything until well combined. Place the lid on the pot, then cook the turkey chili for about 20 minutes while stirring regularly, turn the heat low, and cook it for another hour over low heat making sure to stir consistently. Serve and enjoy!
