Pan-searing is a convenient method of cooking steak since you can do it indoors, but your kitchen will probably be filled with smoke, unlike grilling outdoors. Since it’s still summer, it is a great time to try grilling your steak. Keep on practicing, and you will master it in no time!
Here’s how to pan-sear steak: How to Cook the Perfect Steak Every Time
Pat the meat dry with a paper towel to get a nice hard sear. Do not skip this step.
Cover the entire surface of the steak with kosher salt, garlic powder, freshly cracked black pepper, and garlic powder. Pat the seasonings in. Flip to season the bottom side. Use the leftover seasonings on the chopping board to season the sides.
Turn the gas on your grill up to a high setting. You want to get it as hot as it can go. Feel the hot spot in your grill and place the steak. It should have a sizzling sound. If you don’t hear that sound, your grill is not hot enough. You will not get a sear if that happens. Press it down and close your grill. Cook for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
After 2 minutes and 30 seconds, check your steak for some grill marks. Rotate it slightly and close the grill. Cook for another 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Flip your steak and press it down. Cook for 2 minutes. After that, slightly turn it and cook until the internal temperature reads 115F for medium rare. Remove from the grill and let it rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
