Step 1
Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick cooking spray and set it aside. Place a large pot on a stove over medium heat, then put the butter in the pot, and stir it consistently until melted.
Step 2
Next, add the marshmallows, then stir until completely melted, add the salt if using unsalted butter, and keep stirring until well mixed.
Step 3
Now, add the cornflakes in batches, stir between each addition until completely coated, and then turn off the heat.
Step 4
At this point, you can add the vanilla if using, then mix them well, and pour the cornflake mixture into the prepared baking dish spreading it evenly and pressing it down firm and flat.
Step 5
Let the cornflakes harden for about 15 minutes or 30 to 60 minutes, then cut them into squares, and sprinkle more salt if desired, to bring out the flavor. Serve and enjoy!
