Traditionally, basting involves painstakingly pinning or stitching the layers together, but with this fantastic tutorial from Homemade Emily Jane on YouTube, you’ll be able to baste your quilt project using only an adhesive spray. Learn how by watching the video tutorial below for the step by step instructions.
Throw your batting into the dryer first to get the wrinkles out. In the meantime, start taping your backing down your working surface. Put the right side down, then proceed to tape the edges down. Next, take the batting out of the dryer and flatten it out over the backing, lining it up on one edge. After this, lay the quilt top on top, lining it up also as well. Once done, grab your scissors and cut off the extra batting.
Now, spray first the backing to the batting using the spray adhesive, one half at a time. Smooth it out once done. Once done, roll the quilt top backward halfway, then spray the adhesive. Smooth it out, then work with the other half. After this, grab the safety pins and pin them sporadically to make sure it all holds together even if you don’t get to quilting right away.
