Monte cristo sandwich is one of the most popular sandwiches all around the world. It is packed with turkey, ham, and cheese, dipped in egg, then fried until golden brown. Dust powdered sugar on top and then serve with a raspberry sauce. This recipe by Tasty is a little bit different but equally amazing. It is a great meal for breakfast, brunch, or any time of the day.

Unlike the original recipe, this one is baked, not pan-fried. It also uses Hawaiian rolls instead of white bread slices. Instead of using raspberry jam as a dip, it is spread on the rolls, making these sweet and savory Monte Cristo sliders. They are also brushed with a butter egg mixture on top for that golden brown color. I am sure everyone will love this recipe when you make it at home.
For the raspberry jam:
For the sliders:
Make the raspberry jam. Place a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the raspberries and cook for 4 minutes.
Add the sugar and cook for 10 to 15 minutes while stirring constantly, until running a spoon through the jam leaves an open trail at the bottom of the pot.
Add the lemon juice and stir well. Turn off the heat and remove the pot. Let it cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
Make the sliders. Start by preheating the oven to 325F, then lining a small baking sheet with foil. Make sure to leave enough overhang as handles. Grease it with a nonstick spray.
Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, leaving them connected. Put the bottom half in the greased and lined baking sheet.
Fold 12 turkey slices in half twice, then add on top of the bottom bun. Do the same for the ham slices and place on top of the turkey layer. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
Spread the homemade raspberry jam over the top half of the Hawaiian rolls and place on top of the cheese layer. Press it down lightly.
In a small bowl, add the egg and melted butter. Mix until well combined. Brush on top of the rolls. Place inside the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. If the top begins to brown too quickly, cover it loosely with foil.
Remove the sliders from the oven, then let it cool for about 10 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter. Dust it lightly with powdered sugar and your monte cristo sliders are ready to serve.
