This is a staple recipe in our home, and I always make this whenever I host a big group. It’s always a hit, and I’m sure to have clean plates after the meal. Watch the video below to learn the step by step instructions.
Add the thawed ground beef in a large mixing bowl followed by 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs, two large eggs, 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp ground black pepper. Mix it all together. Once done, measure the mixture into half a cup portions, then form those into patties. Repeat these until you finish the mixture. Now, heat 2 tbsp of cooking oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat, then add 2 tbsp of butter. Once the butter melts, add the beef patties and cook them in batches for about six minutes on each side.

Set aside the patties once done cooking, then add the thinly sliced yellow onions to the same pan. Scrape the bottom of the pan as you cook the onions. Once the onions are soft, add 2 packets of dry brown gravy mix, 2 cups of beef broth, 1 cup of water, and 2 tbsp of butter. Mix until well combined, then add the beef patties back to the pan. Put the lid on, turn the heat down to low, and simmer for a few minutes. Serve over some mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
