I cooked a lot for my family, which is why I tend to make every recipe from scratch. One of my favorite made-from-scratch recipes is this sweet cornbread from Kita In The Kitchen on YouTube. I like how simple and straightforward this recipe is and would only need a few ingredients to make. Even if you’re not a baker, I’m sure you’ll be able to pull this recipe out.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Directions:

Step 1

Sift 1 cup of all-purpose flour along with 1 cup of sugar. After this, sift 1 cup of cornmeal, 2 tsp baking powder, and 1/4 tsp sea salt in the same bowl with the flour. Once done, whisk the dry ingredients thoroughly. Next, add one large egg and 1 1/4 cups of milk (add in three parts). Continue to mix using an electric mixer.

Step 2

After this, add 3 tbsp unsalted melted butter. Mix thoroughly until everything is well combined. Once done, let it sit for ten minutes. In the meantime, grease an 8″ x 8″ baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. After ten minutes, pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake it in a 400 degrees F oven for 28 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
