I can’t believe I just discovered this scrumptious cake dessert from Divas Can Cook on Youtube. This cake is called Kentucky butter cake, and I’m telling you; it’s the best thing ever! Its luscious syrup and soft texture are literally everything you would want from a cake recipe. Try this today and see for yourself!
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F, and grease and flour a bundt pan. Set it aside. Next, In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour and 1/2 tsp salt. Whisk to combine, then set it aside. In another bowl, add 16 tbsp unsalted butter, 1/2 cup butter-flavored shortening, 3 cups granulated sugar, and five eggs (add the sugar and eggs alternating one another while whisking with a handheld mixer). Next, mix in 2 tsp vanilla extract and 1/4 tsp rum. Now, combine the dry and wet ingredients. Add 1 cup buttermilk while whisking.

Once everything is nicely combined, transfer the mixture to your prepared bundt pan, shaking and plopping it to get all the air bubbles out. After this, bake it in the preheated 325 degrees F oven for one hour and fifteen minutes. After baking the cake; remove it from the oven and put a bunch of little holes with a skewer. (Don’t go all the way down to the bottom.) Set it aside. Now, make the syrup. In a pan, melt 12 tbsp unsalted butter, then add 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar, and 1/3 cup water. Mix well to combine and cook until bubbly. After this, remove it from the heat, then stir in 1/2 tsp rum extract and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Now, pour it over the cake, reserving 1/4 cup for later. After this, remove the cake from the pan, then brush the remaining 1/4 cup of syrup all over it. Serve and enjoy!
