For your next project, try making this super-efficient quilt block from Art Gallery Fabrics on Youtube that uses the no-waste method to make the units. It’s also a quilting project you can do if you like pro-looking blocks but beginner-friendly. Make this today by watching the video tutorial below.
Using the no-waste method, take a 5 & 1/4″ square from fabric C and 4 & 7/8″ square from fabric D. These are the unit pieces you’ll need to create the flying geese units. Draw diagonal lines using a pencil on the wrong side of the fabric on each two of 7/8″ squares from fabric D. Place two 2 & 7/8″ squares at each corner of your 5 & 1/3″ square from fabric C. Make sure the right sides are together and the diagonal line matches up to make a straight line. Sew a 1/4″ from the diagonal line on each side of the line. After sewing, cut the piece in the diagonal you marked. Press seams toward fabric D. Now, place the 2 & 7/8″ square from fabric D at the lower corner of your piece. Sew on each side of the diagonal line you marked at 1/4″.

After sewing, cut the piece on a diagonal line. Next, to make four at a time half-square triangles, take a 6 & 3/4 square from fabrics A and C and place the right sides together. Sew 1/4″ around the entire square. Cut on each diagonal to reveal four half-square triangles. Press open and square blocks to 4 & 1/2″. Sew a 2 & 1/2″ x 4 & 1/2″ strip from fabric B to the top of each flying geese. Place all your pieces following the block design, then sew rows one to three together. Your folded corners block is now complete.
