Methods:

  • Do not make your bed immediately
  • Clean blinds and vents regularly
  • Wipe ceilings and other hard-to-reach areas
  • Vacuum, mop, and disinfect
  • Limit the number of rugs in your house

Directions:

Tip #1: Do not make your bed immediately

After waking up, let your bed sit for about 30 minutes, then proceed to make your bed, this will prevent bacteria and dust growth in your bed. Our body produces moisture throughout the night when we sleep and when you cover up all that warm moisture in your bed without letting it breathe, it will lead to bacteria and odor.

Tip #2: Clean blinds and vents regularly

Make sure to wipe your blinds and vents clean regularly because they accumulate a lot of dust quickly. It is also best if you do not put on a lot of curtains because they can trap a huge amount of dust, too. But, if you do love curtains, then just make sure to wash them frequently. To clean your blinds easily, wrap each claw of your tongs with a microfiber cloth, then tie it in place with rubber bands, and wipe it along each slit of your blinds.

Tip #3: Wipe ceilings and other hard-to-reach areas

Use a rotating mop with extendable handles to clean your ceiling, lights, ceiling fans, or other hard-to-reach places. These items or areas are most commonly ignored because they are out of sight and reach the point where they accumulate a lot of dust which then would be harder to clean. Plus, this can also become the main source of dust in your house, so make sure to clean them regularly.

Tip #4: Vacuum, mop, and disinfect

Give your house a good vacuum and mop to make sure that no dust will be left on the floor or other surfaces. After cleaning them, consider disinfecting them to double the protection, and guarantee that no more dirt is trapped. It is also important to maintain the cleanliness of your tools for better cleaning results, after using your vacuum for a few times, make sure to clean it nicely and regularly. This will ensure that no dust will go right back into the surfaces or areas that you want to clean.

Tip #5: Limit the number of rugs in your house

For the same reason as limiting your curtains, you should also limit the number of your rugs because they can also accumulate lots of dust and dirt that are easily missed because you can’t immediately notice or see them which will then lead to buildup. If you have lots of rugs in your house, make sure to regularly vacuum them clean, and give them a nice spray with disinfectant.
