Yes, you read that correctly – Mountain Dew Steak…I don’t find this appealing, but I am a food blogger. So, I decided not to be selfish and share with you this recipe shared by Liam Donafee on YouTube. I will try to keep this blog fair. Surprisingly, Mountain Dew added this recipe to its website, and here is the story.
A ten year old daughter created this Mountain Dew steak marinade recipe that is way off the beaten path and, admittedly, not for everyone to “like”. I’m sharing this recipe for the brave to experiment with. Try out your guts and confidence. Maybe you will find that you like it yourself. (Maybe..)
Ingredients:
Directions
Prepare all the needed ingredients.
Take the steak out of the fridge and bring it to room temperature before cooking. Make sure the steak is patted dry with paper towels as a regular steak recipe is prepared.
Season the steak with a generous amount of salt and pepper.
Pour some Mountain Dew in a heavy based skillet over high heat. Let it heat until ready. You will know that it is prepared when you see smoke. Place the seasoned steak in the heated skillet and cook for 2–25 minutes until you get a great crust and then flip.
Leave it for a minute, and then push the steak to one side. Toss in some butter and garlic.
As soon as the butter melts, add more mountain dew and continuously spoon the mixed butter and mountain dew over the steak until it is cooked to your liking. In the video, it is cooked “medium rare.”
When cooked and ready to your liking, transfer the steak to a chopping board and slice it into thin slices.
Prepare your guts and confidence, and take a bite out of the challenge.
