#1 Equipment
Sharpening your mower blades, checking the oil on your mower, changing the oil, or maybe cleaning them too from the last fall season when you didn’t get it done. These things are often overlooked but Spring is a great time to do that.
#2 Soil Test
Doing a soil test before you apply anything to the yard would be a great thing to do.
#3 Pre-Emergent
Make sure to get your pre-emergent plan in place. Another reminder is if you’re going to do Spring seeding or you have to do any overseeding, a traditional pre-emergent is not going to work with that Spring seeding plan.

#4 When to Mow
Let the grass grow out a little bit, and get some of that brown stuff to kind of grow out so you will be able to cut all of that off with the mower without having to go in and scalp the lawn. Also, look at your temperatures. If it’s starting to go up, that’s when you can start to think about your first mow.
#5 Fertilizer
If you did not apply anything last fall, you could think about a light application of fertilizer once you’re starting to see some green up.
