For the past couple of months, the world has been facing the Corona Virus outbreak. This worldwide pandemic has led many countries on lockdown, social distancing, and staying safe at home. Grocery stores are being swiped and cleared out with little to no products left on the shelf. The world is going into a scare of panic shock and it’s affecting our health. With the news, people are living in fear seeing the numbers increase and leading to death. The majority of us are trying to find ways to keep our immunity safe and healthy during this tragic time. It is important to be aware of the hygiene standards such as wearing masks and disinfecting your hands, but there are also other considerations to factor in through basic key steps.

For those who are being cautious of their health, here are some tips that could help strengthen your immunity, but isn’t guaranteed to stop you from getting the virus. As scary as it seems, just take note a strong immune system can help support these viruses and infections.

Get Enough Sleep

You’ve probably heard of it before, but getting the proper amount of sleep (7-8 hours) helps your body to rejuvenate and recharge every night. According to Narayana Health, the lack of sleep will impair other bodily functions that can lead to a direct impact on your immunity. While everything seems to be on standstill, it’s easier to lose track of time and the days start to blend into each other. I’ve been staying up later than usual by watching more TV, but at the end of the day stay on top of your sleeping schedule.

Don’t Stress

It might seem impossible to not stress with all of the complications happening in this world, such as being laid off from your job or having family members to be cautious about. However, there are ways to help reduce stress and clear the mind to let your body rest. A couple of things that help me destress: listening to music, practicing yoga, workout, meditate, hiking, and the list is limitless. Find something that works for you because stress is known for having a big effect on your mental and physical health.

Exercise Regularly

Any type of physical activity of 30 to 60 minutes will help your boost mood and release those bad toxins out of your body. You can either take a light stroll at the park or follow a workout routine in your living room. Regular exercise is known to improve your metabolism and is beneficial for your immunity. Exercising can overlap with de-stressing, especially if you enjoy it. It’s not for everyone, but I love exercising because it helps clear my mind.

Drinks Lots of Water

You’ve probably heard numerous times from your doctor to drink about 8-10 glasses of water every day. Staying hydrated is key to help flush out the toxins in our body and lower the chances of flu, according to Narayana Health. This might sound crazy, but I have a 48-ounce Hydroflask bottle that I use to I refill about 3-4 times. It is key to healthier skin, nails, hair, and everyday life.

Have A Healthy Diet

Eat a nutritious variety of foods for your body to help support your immune system. There are a ton of superfoods such as dark leafy greens or fresh fruits that can help provide Vitamin D, Zinc, and other important minerals. You can take supplements if you’re not getting enough nutrition, but make sure to consult your doctor about your options to help boost your immune system.

As cities and states slowly begin to open up, make sure to take extra safety precautions of your surroundings and health. Follow some of these tips to help optimize your immunity and do your best to be safe. Do your research and take it a day at a time.  These suggestions might seem self-explanatory, but a good diet, sleep, and stress management are some of the best things to follow to protect ourselves.
