As a busy person, I always look for quick recipes that are still delicious and healthy for my family. While browsing Youtube the other day, I found this mouthwatering honey garlic shrimp recipe from Downshiftology. It looks so good that I knew I had to try it! Now, my family always requests it, and I can cook it even during busy weekdays because it comes together in just 20 minutes! Watch the video below for the full recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup tamari soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped cilantro (or parsley)
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

Directions:

Step 1

To start, peel and devein 1 lb raw shrimp. Next, for the glaze, combine 1/3 cup honey, 1/4 cup tamari soy sauce, 4 cloves of minced garlic, 1 tsp freshly grated ginger, and 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes in a small mixing bowl. Stir and pour about 1/3 of it on the shrimp. Toss and make sure the shrimp are fully coated. Marinate them for 15 to 20 minutes. While the shrimp are marinating, go ahead and finely chop the cilantro and thinly slice the green onion.

Step 2

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Once heated, add the shrimp to the pan in a single flat layer. Cook the shrimp on the first side for about a minute or two, then flip them and cook the other side for another minute or so until they are pink. Once they are cooked through, add the remaining sauce to the pan, and bring it to a simmer. Make sure to toss the shrimp into the sauce and make sure they’re fully coated. Then, sprinkle the chopped herbs into the pan, turn off the heat, and give the shrimp one final toss. Serve and enjoy!
