This is the simplest way to revitalize old potting soil. Dump your old oil into a large container. Grab the dirt, large pieces of material, or maybe some roots. You want to add a third amount of potting mix, compost, or a mixture of both to the old soil. Mix until well combined.
This is the ideal method. Remove any plant material, then screen the soil. Check if there are any signs of diseases or pest infestation. You should also remove any large chunks of material.
Add some potting soil or compost. Mix until well distributed.
