Items:

  • Water
  • Frozen meat
  • Whole eggs
  • Peppers
  • Fresh fruits
  • Carrots
  • Unpeeled potatoes and tomatoes
  • Sausages
  • Tableware with metallic details
  • Aluminum foil

Directions:

Water

Water does not form bubbles to help it cool down when it is heated in the microwave, what happens instead is it overheats and eventually cracks the glass container that it was in.

Frozen meat

Defrosting meat in the microwave is difficult because it mostly just overcooks the edges and leaves the insides cold, this method not only unevenly heats your meat, but it also encourages bacteria growth.

Whole eggs

Microwaves generate heat too fast which causes steam to form inside the egg, and since it has nowhere to go, it builds up inside, then eventually explodes.

Peppers

This one releases gas when heated and it is susceptible to catching fire, so it is not a really good idea to heat any kind of pepper in the microwave. The same goes for fresh fruits and carrots because they will only explode inside or burn.

Unpeeled potatoes and tomatoes

The skin of the potato or tomato will keep the heat inside and will make it explode or catch fire. If you really want to try to heat these items, then it’s best to poke holes in them first, and when heating tomato sauce, make sure to cover it with a lid to avoid making a mess.

Sausages

Sausages have a thin peel that can cause damage, explosion, or catch fire. Poke holes all over them before heating, or cover them with a paper towel to avoid grease splatters.

Tableware with metallic details

This type of dinnerware has details on them that are made of metallic paint which can cause a reaction when heated, then eventually cause a mess on your microwave.

Aluminum foil

One of the most important items you should never put inside your microwave is any kind of metal, even the smallest amount may cause a fire. The same goes for plastic, paper bags, polystyrene containers, and acrylics. So make sure to always use microwave-safe dishes or containers.
