1. Vinegar

With the use of vinegar, you can easily kill germs and pesticides from fruits and vegetables. Fill a container or your sink with water, then add a cup of white vinegar. Rinse all of your fruits and vegetables in this solution. Once done, place them in a bowl.

2. Baking soda

Baking soda has a lot of cleaning purposes and this is just one. In a big bowl, pour 5 glasses of water, then add 4 tablespoons of baking soda. Soak the fruits and vegetables in this solution for 15 minutes. Remove then wipe them dry.

3. Turmeric water

Turmeric is usually known to control inflammation, but did you know that it can also be used to clean produce? Boil water and pour into a bowl. Add 5 teaspoons of turmeric powder and mix. Add and rinse the fruits and vegetables in the solution. Once done, transfer them to a bowl of clean water. Wipe them dry.

4. Salt

If you don’t have any of the 3 products above, you can use salt. Add one cup of salt to a bowl of clean water, then add the fruits and vegetables. Allow them to soak for 10 minutes, then transfer to a bowl of fresh water. Rinse the fruit and vegetables in clean water 5 times before eating.

 

If fruits or vegetables have deep ridges, remove them as these are locations where the chemicals cling onto and linger most.
