I recently saw a recipe on YouTube by The Cookn Share, who came up with an ingenious tuna pies recipe. Tuna pies are something I never thought existed, but I love tuna casserole so, the idea of having a tuna casserole inside a delicious puff pastry was really more than I can stand so I knew I had to make some of these tuna turnovers. Cookn Share said he was just in the mood to make something new and he was poking around the pantry and the freezer and realized that he has some puff pastry, some tuna, and some frozen vegetables and his mind just started clicking and he magically came up with this fantastic recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cloves of garlic (chopped)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup of corn
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cans of tuna
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup of cheese
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
  • egg wash (to brush on top of your tuna pies, this is optional)
  • 240 grams (1 package) of puff pastry

Directions:

In this video tutorial, you will learn to make a white sauce with sauteed onions and garlic in butter then you will add milk and your corn, peas, and cheese and cook for a few minutes in a skillet.

Then, when your pastry is thawed you will roll it out and cut it into large strips then fill them with your tuna mixture and seal the sides by pressing a fork down at the edges. You then place them on a baking sheet and brush a little egg wash on them and back in a 400 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
