I have been on a tuna kick lately, so when I saw this recipe tutorial for a tuna noodle casserole by Food Wishes on Youtube, I knew I had to make it immediately. I love tuna salad and cooked tuna is even better. The recipe instructions are super easy to follow and the ingredients are so basic, I already had most of them on hand.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup yellow onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt (or sea salt divided)
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup white cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 (12 ounce) package of dry egg noodles
  • 2 (5 ounce) cans of tuna (drained and crumbled, white albacore is best)
  • 3/4 cup peas (frozen)
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

This recipe tutorial by Food Wishes on Youtube is so easy to follow. First, you will cook the egg noodles in water and make your white sauce with sauteed onion, flour, and milk. When those ingredients are done, place all of your casserole ingredients into a mixing bowl and blend well.

Then, you will add all your ingredients to a greased casserole dish, then add the breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese to the top and bake in a 350-degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes. Let the casserole stand for about 10 minutes, then serve.
