Flies are one of the most common pests all around the world. These buzzing insects can reproduce easily and even spread deadly diseases. There are tons of products available in stores you can use to get rid of them, but most contain chemicals that are harmful to humans. So, if you are looking for an alternative that is safe and free from chemicals, try this genius trick. You can keep flies away from your home using items you probably already have.

Jennifer’s tips on YouTube shared the video below where she showed how to use a clear plastic bag to deter flies.

To make this DIY fly-repellent, you will need a clear plastic ziplock bag, metal coins, water, and a rubber band. First, she filled a clear plastic bag with water and then added a few metal coins. After that, she tied it tightly with a rubber band. It may look skeptical, but it definitely works. Once tied, hang it to places where you often see these pests.

She stated that this trick is often used by butcher shops, and then she explained that the water and coins inside the bag make a light effect, which flies hate. You can place this in your kitchen, living room, or areas where they always roam around.

Many of the viewers have tried this method and shared their stories. @annelacoste90 shared that she “used this for years, hanging them in doorways of my barn. They kept the flies out of the barn, letting my horses rest quietly at night. They do work.”

Another user explained how it works, stating, “It works like a magnifying mirror, when the flies fly towards it they see a huge fly heading their way, their own reflection scares them off. Best placed on doors or windows before they come in.”
