Instructions:

Step 1:

Get 14 blocks from your pack for your stems. For the background fabric, you need 14 pieces of 10″ squares and 2 1/2″ strips for your snowball corner.

Step 2:

Get a white 10″ square and place it on top of one printed square. Draw a diagonal line on opposite sides. Sew a quarter of an inch on either side of the lines. Once done, cut them in half twice, horizontally and vertically. Next, cut them on the lines to make half-square triangles. Once done, press them open. Each block should measure 4 1/2″.

Step 3:

Make the leaves. Lay the block just as shown below, then sew each pair (top and bottom) together. Press them open. Out of your quarter of a yard of stem fabric, cut a 1 1/2 by 8″ piece. Place it in the center and sew. Press the seam allowance of the stem inside. Trim it to a 4 1/2″ square.

Step 4:

In the 28 pieces of 10″ squares in your packet, cut them into fourths to make 5″ squares. Get the 2 1/2″ background strip and cut it into 2 1/2″ squares. You need a total of 112 pieces of 2 1/2″ background squares.

Step 5:

Choose 4 pieces of 5″ squares and take 4 pieces of 2 1/2″ background squares. Fold the background squares in half diagonally. Lay the printed square into a four-patch. Place two of the background squares into the inside corner on top, then the other two on the outside corners on the bottom. Sew the 2 1/2″ squares on the printed squares. Trim off the excess corners. Press them open, then sew them as a four-patch.

Step 6:

Sew the tulip top to the stem section with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. You want the middle seam to match up with your stem.

Step 7:

You need 4 tulips in each column and 7 in each row. For the sashing, use 2 1/2″ strips. Every other row starts with a sash. Add a 2 1/2″ inner border, then a 5 1/2″ border.
