Quilt Top:
Backing:
Cut the novelty fabric into 5″ strips, then from these, cut 5″ squares. Next, take your three color fabrics (black, red, and yellow), and cut them into 2″ strips. For the white fabric, cut it into 1 1/2″ strips. Now, take one 5″ square and one white strip to the sewing machine, sew them together, then just add another 5″ square to the white strip. Once done, go back, and sew another white strip to the other side of the 5″ squares. Cut them individually after this, then press open. Now, repeat these steps and add two more white strips on the top and bottom of the unit you just made. Make 42 pieces of these.

Now, divide the 42 blocks into three sets, then sew the strip colors (black, red, and yellow) around each block (just like the white strip you did earlier). So, 14 surrounded in black, 14 surrounded in red, and 14 surrounded in yellow. Once done, square each block to 10″, then assemble the quilt top. Lay six blocks across in alternating colors, then six blocks below.
