Choose a descaling solution. To remove the hard water buildup in your coffee maker, use white vinegar or bar keepers friend coffee maker descaler.
For the vinegar:
Fill up the water tank with vinegar about halfway through and the rest with cold water.
For the descaler:
Add 8 oz of the descaler to the water tank and then fill the rest with cold water.
Most of the coffee machines nowadays have a clean function. Just press that button and let your machine do the cleaning. If your machine does not have that function, set your coffee maker to the largest pot that you can make. Turn it on and run till the fresh water tank gets down to about halfway and turn the machine off. Let the cleaner sit inside for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Once that is done, turn it back on and run the rest of the solution through the machine.
Empty the thermo glass carafe, then fill up the freshwater tank all the way with water. Run a full cycle through the machine. This will rinse it out really well, making sure there is no cleaner left behind. You may need to rinse it multiple times until the water runs clear.
Remove the removable parts and soak in water with a little bit of dish soap.
Unplug the coffee machine. Clean the exterior with a DIY vinegar mix – 1 cup of vinegar, 1 cup of water, and 1 teaspoon of dish soap. Scrub it in with a non-scratch sponge. To rinse, use a damp microfiber towel.
Wash the removable parts, then let them dry.
Reassemble the coffee maker.
