This recipe by Simply Mamá Cooks is absolutely delicious. The combination of sweet and spicy is so savory. Your guest are sure to love it. And like many other recipes, you can really adjust the spice level to your desire, so it can be on the sweeter side as well.

Ingredients Needed For This Recipe:

  • Cooking Oil
  • Ground Beef
  • Bouillon Cube
  • Chili Powder
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Ground Cumin
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Water
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Yellow Corn Meal
  • Baking Powder
  • Sugar
  • Egg
  • Cooking Oil
  • Creamed Corn
  • Milk
  • Large Jalapeños (Dry)
  • Butter

Directions:

Step One

Heat up cooking oil in a hot pan. Place ground beef into the pan with your bouillon cube, chilli powder, garlic powder, onion powder and ground cumin. Season the meat with salt and pepper as well. You can add more to taste.

Step Two

Once the meat is seasoned well, add water into the pan with the meat.

Step Three

If you don’t want to make your own cornbread mix, you could just use a boxed mix, otherwise follow this step. In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.

Step Four

In the same bowl, add a large egg, oil, one can of creamed corn and 1/2 cup of milk. Mix all of this together, then add in your Jalapeños.

Step Five

Butter you baking dish. You should use a 8×11 dish for this recipe.

Step Six

Add 1/2 of your corn bread mixture into the baking dish. Spread the corn bread mix across the bottom of the pan evenly.

Step Seven

Add your ground beef mixture over the top of the corn bread previously placed in the pan, then top the beef with shredded cheese.

Step Eight

Pour the rest of your conbread mix into the pan over top of the beef and cheese. Place it into the oven at 340 degrees for 20 minutes.
