Materials:

  • 1 roll of 2 1/2″ print strips
  • 1 3/4 yards of gray fabric
  • 1 1/4 yards of white fabric
  • 1 1/4 yards of border fabric
  • 1/2 yard binding fabric
  • 3 1/4 yards backing fabric

Directions:

Step 1

Take two strip sets and sew them together. Next, cut them to 2 1/2″, put them right sides together, and sew with a 1/4″ seam allowance. That will give you your four-patch unit. Make three more of this, then sew them together to create a 16-patch block.

Step 2

For the other block, you need two 4 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ pieces of cream fabric. (When cutting these blocks, cut an 8 1/2″ strip then just subcut them into pieces.) For your corners, cut 4 1/2″ colored blocks. Next, fold the 4 1/2″ colored blocks in half in a triangular shape, then place two at both ends of one 4 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece. For the other 4 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece, place two folded 4 1/2″ colored blocks on each end in opposite of the first unit.

Step 3

Now, press the line down the middle of the 4 1/2″ colored block, then sew it right in the center. Cut the excess, then press open. Repeat these steps on the other units. Now, start assembling the block (refer to the image below for the placement of each piece). Repeat these steps to create more blocks for the quilt top.
