Shrimp is an easy protein to cook because it does not require a lot of time to cook. This 4-minute spicy garlic recipe by Seonkyoung Longest on YouTube shows how you can make Asian at-home style. I am familiar with all of the spices and ingredients, but some may not know where to find them. You can grab these ingredients at your local international store. There are a lot of bold flavors in this recipe that has all fresh ingredients. Normally, I would serve this on a bed of white rice where it would compliment each other so well.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp chili oil with chili flakes Lao Gan Ma (If you have regular chili oil, add 1 1/2 tbsp chili flakes)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 10 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 lb peeled and deveined 31/40 shrimp
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine, rice wine or white wine (if you don’t want to consume alcohol in your cooking, use water)
  • 3 green onion, chopped
  • 1 red or green chili, sliced (optional)
  • handful cilantro, roughly chopped
  • fried shallot or french onion for garnish
  • lemon or lime wedge

Directions:

First, chop and prepare all of your ingredients. Mix oyster sauce, honey, chili oil, and black pepper in a bowl to use for later.

Overall, I need to make this for dinner one night. Shrimp is one of my favorite things to cook for my friends. Cooking seafood can be intimidating, but it’s one of the easiest.
