The play of colors in this pattern is truly adorable. This is a speedy quilt using jelly roll fabric strips by my sewing room. It is an easy project and is suitable for beginners in quilting.
Materials:
- 40 pieces of 2 1/2″ strips of fabric
- long ruler
- rotary cutter
You will need 10 pieces of colored fabrics and 10 pieces of neutral fabrics. Cut 2 strips from each one for a total of 20 strips for each set.

Instructions:
Step 1:
Get ten strips from the colored set and sew them together with a quarter-of-an-inch seam allowance. Once done, press the unit flat. It should be 20 inches wide. Repeat with the remaining strips to get two panels.
Step 2:
Get ten strips from the neutral set and sew them together with a quarter of an inch seam allowance. Once done, press the unit flat. It should also be 20 inches wide. Repeat with the remaining strips to get two panels.
Step 3:
Get one of the colored panels and place the ruler as close to the edge, then cut the selvage. Cut the unit to make 2 pieces of 20-inch squares.
Step 4:
Get one of the neutral panels and place the ruler as close to the edge, then cut the selvage. Cut the unit to make 2 pieces of 20-inch squares.
Step 5:
Using a long ruler, cut one colored and one neutral 20-inch square in half diagonally from corner to corner to make 8 pieces of triangles.
Step 6:
Arrange the triangles into a large pinwheel, alternating the colored and neutral ones. Sew them together.
Step 7:
Get the remaining neutral and colored panels and cut them into 8-inch segments. You need 4 from each one for the sides. Sew a colored segment to a neutral one. Repeat with the remaining ones. Once done, sew two on the top and bottom of the quilt. The other two will be for the sides.
Step 8:
Reap the remaining 8-inch segments in half so it will only be 5 strips instead of 10. Then sew them to the end of the sides. Once done, sew the borders on the quilt. Trim excess.
