This world’s best southern banana pudding recipe by Meso Making It on YouTube is made from scratch and the real deal. It’s hard to come across recipes that do not take on the classic version and have become “no-bake”. When it comes to banana pudding, I love them baked, and homemade. Although some people like to do box versions, this recipe is so simple already. I know this is an authentic southern-style banana pudding because it takes me a trip down to memory lane when I saw my friend’s grandmother making it growing up.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Box Vanilla Wafers
  • 10 Very Ripe Bananas
  • 1 Stick Butter
  • 4 Cups Milk (any)
  • 2 Cups Sugar + ¼ cup (for meringue)
  • 4 Eggs (separated)
  • ¼ tsp. Cream of Tartar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 tsp. Lemon Flavoring
  • 1 tsp. Butter Flavoring
  • 1/8 tsp. Allspice
  • 4 tbsp. flour (any kind)

Directions:

First, layout a bottom layer of vanilla wafers in an oven-safe dish. Then, slice ripped bananas on top of the cookies and lay down another layer of cookies. Repeat until you get your desired cookies to banana ratio. Make the pudding by melting butter, milk, and sugar on medium heat.
