You can never go wrong with anything that has apples on it; they will surely taste good! One example is this Southern fried apples recipe from Jackie Garvin on Youtube. My mom always brings me a fresh batch of apples whenever she visits me (‘cause I absolutely love them), so when I came across this recipe, I immediately tried it. Truth be told, I’ve never liked anything fried growing up, but this one is an exception. It tasted so much better than I anticipated! The caramelized sugar with cinnamon and butter is just heaven for me. So if you adore apples like me, you should definitely try out this recipe! I sent this to my family, and they were absolutely amazed at how this simple recipe tasted so good. Watch the video below to learn how to make this. All thanks to Jackie Garvin for this wonderful recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon, heaping
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 5 to 6 cooking apples (peeled, cored, and sliced in eights)

Directions:

Step 1

Add 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar, 2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 cup unsalted butter, and 1/4 tsp salt in a large pan over medium heat. Stir everything until the butter melts. Once the butter melts, add 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar to balance out everything. Next, peel, core, and slice six apples in eights. Once the sugar-butter mixture is fully incorporated, toss in the sliced apples. Stir until all the apples are coated with the sugar mixture.

Step 2

Continue mixing the whole thing until the apples are fork-tender; just be careful not to break the apples while in the process. After about ten minutes, your fried apples are finished. Serve and enjoy!
