How to Make Southern Fried Apples
Step 1:
Star by peeling the apples and removing the core. Cut into even slices.
Step 2:
Place a skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Once the butter is melted, add the apple slices and spread them in a single layer. Let the apples cook until the butter bubbles up.
Step 3:
Once it’s bubbling, drizzle fresh lemon juice over the apples. Cook them on medium heat until the apples are fork-tender and soft.
Step 4:
Add brown sugar and white sugar for some sweetness. Adjust the amount based on your preference. Mix well and cook until the sugar has melted and the sauce thickens.
Step 5:
Turn off the heat and sprinkle some cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix until well combined.
Step 6:
Serve the fried apples while warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream topping. Enjoy!
