Ingredients:

  • 3 large onions
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 packs of bacon
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 large cloves of garlic (chopped)
  • barbeque sauce

Directions:

Step 1:

Season the ground beef. Combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and cheese in a bowl. Using your clean hands, mix the ingredients until well combined.

Note: You can use your favorite burger recipe or favorite spices in this recipe.

Step 2:

Peel the onions and slice around 3/4 inch per ring. Separate the rings. Use two onion rings of different sizes per piece. Lay them on your countertop, then start stuffing the area between the big and small onion rings with the ground beef mixture, as shown below. Press the top and bottom surfaces to flatten. Repeat the process with the remaining pieces. After you have finished, set them on a plate, then refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.

Step 3:

Take two slices of bacon for each ring and wrap them around the stuffed onion rings. Continue doing the same process for all of the pieces.

Step 4:

Place the bacon cheeseburger onion rings on the drum smoker. Put the lid on and cook at 300 degrees F for 65 minutes. Brush some barbeque sauce on each piece and cook again for 5 minutes. Place them on a plate then you are done!
