Apples are in season, and it’s a great way to turn them into apple cider. This slow cooker spiced apple cider recipe by The Stay At Home Chef is so simple and detailed. My parents have a big apple tree in the back, and I love apple cider. I never thought about making my own apple cider, but it would be refreshing to make a big batch to store for later. This is a basic apple cider vinegar recipe that’s cooked in a slow cooker and can last long for the fall or winter season. I love how she recommends putting orange for an orange apple cider, which sounds amazing. Also, this is an inexpensive recipe that can easily be made while you’re out making errands or working.
First, wash, cut, and core the gala apples into quarters and place them into the slow cooker. Add in cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and allspice. Pour 10 cups of water on top. Close with a lid and cook for 3 hours on HIGH.
Next, mash the apples with a potato masher. Add in the brown sugar, and cook for an additional 1-3 hours on HIGH. Strain the solids from the liquids, and store it in an airtight container.
Overall, I love how this recipe doesn’t require any peeling. It’s super simple, and I hate having to peel a bunch of apples because it takes a very long time. This apple cider can be enjoyed warm or stored away. Plus, this recipe does not call for a lot of sugar, which can be tweaked if needed. I’m going to need to make this for my mom and me for the season to come.
