If you love shepherd’s pie, you will love this slow cooker version from What’s For Tea? on Youtube! This recipe is brilliant, especially if you don’t have enough time to prepare and want to serve shepherd’s pie for dinner. This recipe is a staple in our house as my family also loves how quick and easy this recipe is without sacrificing the taste. Watch the video below to learn the full recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 18 oz ground lamb (or any meat you prefer)
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 14 oz vegetable (or lamb) stock
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried mint (optional)
  • 5 oz frozen peas
  • 1 tbsp cornflour mixed with 1 tbsp cold water
  • salt and ground black pepper, to taste
  • 32 oz mashed potato
  • a handful of shredded cheese (optional)

Directions:

Step 1

To start, set your crock pot to high, then add the ground lamb. After this, add the diced onions, diced carrots, 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, and a dash of salt and ground black pepper. (If you’re using lamb meat, add 1 tsp dried mint.) Mix it all together to combine. Next, pour 14 oz of vegetable stock, then pop the lid on and cook it on high for three hours. (Give it a stir from time to time so it won’t clump together.)

Step 2

After three hours, add 1 tbsp cornflour mixed with 1 tbsp cold water to thicken the mixture a bit. Give it a good stir, pop the lid on, and cook it for another 30 minutes. After this, mix in the frozen peas, and give it another 30 minutes of cooking time. Finally, add the mashed potato on top and rough up the top using a fork. Pop it in the oven at 400 degrees F to brown the top. (Make sure to check your ceramic pot if it’s oven-safe.)
