We can admit that Cracker Barrel has an extensive menu of good and comfort food that everyone enjoys. From soups, pancakes, and casseroles – they have it all. But my favorite will have to be their fried apples, and this copycat recipe from The Magical Slow Cooker on Youtube is the best version you’ll ever try. Learn the full recipe today by watching the video tutorial below.

Ingredients:

  • 6 medium size apples (peeled, cored, and cut into wedges)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp pure maple syrup (you can also use pancake syrup)
  • 1/4 cup salted melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

Step 1

Peel, core, and slice your apples into wedges. Place the apple wedges into the slow cooker and add 2 tbsp cornstarch and 3 tsp lemon juice. Mix it. Next, add 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg, 2 tsp pure maple syrup (or you can use pancake syrup), 1/4 cup of melted butter, and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Mix together well to combine.

Step 2

Put the lid on and cook the apples for two hours. (Don’t forget to stir it halfway.) After two hours, transfer it to a serving bowl and serve.
