Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of salted butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 lbs of stew beef (cut into 1-inch chunks)
  • 2.5 cups of beef stock
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 0.87 oz of package brown gravy
  • 2 tablespoons of dried minced onion
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

Step 1:

Start by seasoning the beef with salt and pepper then set it aside.

Step 2:

Place a cast iron skillet over high heat and heat until lightly smoking. Add 2 tablespoons of salted butter and stew beef chunks. Brown the need on all sides. Make sure not to cook the beef all the way through, just brown the outside for about 3 minutes.

Step 3:

Add the browned beef to the slow cooker pot.

Step 4:

In a large mixing bowl, add 2 1/2 cups of beef stock, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 3 tablespoons of cornstarch, a package of brown gravy, 2 tablespoons of dried minced onion, and 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce. Whisk everything until well combined.

Step 5:

Pour the mixture over the beef in the slow cooker pot and let it cook on low for about 5 to 6 hours.

Step 6:

Once it’s done cooking, the beef should be fork-tender and the gravy should be thick. Serve it over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or freshly cooked rice. Enjoy while warm.
