Biscuits and gravy are a southern favorite and they were Elvis Presley’s favorite meal next to a good Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich. When I saw this recipe for Southern Style biscuits and gravy in bite-sized little rolls, I cried because I wanted to make them for the King of Rock and Roll and felt so sad Elvis would never get to try them. So I had to console myself by playing Elvis’s Greatest Hits Album, the one with the huge marquee lights saying “ELVIS” shining right behind him, called Number Ones, over and over again as I made them and ate them while fighting back my tears. The ingredients were simple.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Can Of Grands Pop Biscuits
  • 1 pound of Ground Sausage
  • 2 Tbsp Flour
  • 1 cup Milk
  • Egg (for top wash/glaze)

Directions:

Cook sausage in a skillet and add flour, and cook on medium heat while stirring constantly.

Then add milk and stir constantly over a low heat until thickened (do not put your spoon down, if you gravy clumps you can’t undo it).

Then pop open your delicious Grands Biscuits and cut them in half, spoon your lovely sausage and milk gravy in the center of one half of your Grands cut biscuit and take the other half and seal the top, then bake in a 375 degree oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

These biscuits were so delicious, but it’s a bittersweet event when you eat something Elvis loved, and he loved his biscuits and gravy so much. I had to play “Long Black Limousine” and watch clips of him in Hawaii after that to try and cheer myself up, but dang, these biscuits are so good!
