When I found this awesome video tutorial to remove refrigerator odor by Get My Tips, on YouTube, I was super excited to get more confirmation on this great method. I can finally say, this is a hack that I have actually tried. Years ago I bought a used refrigerator, and it worked really well and look brand new, but it really smelled awful. It was in a time before I even had the internet, and I found an article about using newspaper by Martha Stewart and decided to try it. What I did was to completely clean and wash every part of the refrigerator, removing the shelves and washing them. Then I put all of the pieces back in and filled the refrigerator with wadded newspaper then plugged it in and did not open it for two days. When I opened it up, all the smells were magically gone. What I found in this video, was that you can actually use this method when you have food still in the fridge. So when you put something in the fridge that off-gasses and creates a bad smell, forget the baking soda idea, and get some newspaper, then stick the newspaper into the available areas.
