Ingredients:

  • 2 & 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp slightly warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 & 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp yeast (instant or dried)
  • 2 & 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 & 1/4 tsp salt
  • eggwash: 1 egg + 1 tbsp milk

Directions:

Step 1

First, prepare the dough. In a bowl, add 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp warm milk, 2 & 1/2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp yeast, 1 egg, 3 & 1/2 tbsp unsalted butter, and 1 & 1/4 tsp salt. Mix everything well. Next, add 2 & 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour. Mix everything well until dough forms. After the dough is formed, transfer it to a clean work surface. Knead it for 3 to 4 minutes or until it becomes soft and elastic. (You can add 1 tbsp of water to make the dough softer.)

Step 2

For the second step, it’s time to divide and shape the dough. Roll the dough into a log shape, then divide the dough into 15 equal pieces. After this, cover the dough with a damp cloth while shaping the dough pieces one by one. Flatten each, then tuck the edges toward the center, then roll it into the shape of a round ball. Place these balls onto a prepared parchment paper-lined baking tray.

Step 3

For the third step, it’s time to proof the shaped dough. Cover the baking tray with cling wrap and let them sit and rise at room temperature for 1 hour. After an hour, brush the top of the dough with some eggwash.

Step 4

For the final step, place the baking tray in the oven at 375 degrees F and bake them for 18 to 20 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
