This recipe by Sisi Jemimah’s Recipes on YouTube is a successful attempt at imitating one of the famous Chinese take-out menus; beef pepper steak. It was savory and bursting with lots of flavors. It was worth the try because the whole family loved it and I’m planning to serve it for dinner again soon.
Slurry
Marinade sauce
Step 1
Slice the beef thinly, then place each meat between a plastic cling wrap then beat with a meat tenderizer. Then, slice the beef against the grain into bite-sized pieces, transfer to a bowl, and season with stock cubes, minced garlic, minced ginger, dark soy sauce, honey, cornflour, sesame oil, black pepper, and vegetable oil, then mix thoroughly and marinate for at least an hour. For the sauce or slurry, simply combine all of the ingredients listed above and mix until incorporated, then set aside. Remove the top and bottom of the bell peppers, then remove the seeds as well, slice them into bite-sized chunks, chop the onions into large chunks as well.

Step 2
Place a skillet pan on a stove over medium heat, then drizzle some oil, and add in the marinated beef, let it cook for 2 minutes. Then, flip the beef over and cook for 2 more minutes, remove the beef and set aside. Using the same pan, add in some more oil, then saute the ginger and garlic for 2 minutes before adding in the chopped onions, saute for 2 more minutes, then add in the chopped bell peppers, and let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Add stock cubes, black pepper, then pour the slurry (the amount you pour depends on how much you want in it), let it thicken then add the fried beef, mix and fry for 2-3 minutes before serving.
