Instructions
Step 1:
Start by placing the dates in a bowl and soak them in water for 10 minutes.
Step 2:
In a food processor, add 1/2 cup of roasted hazelnuts, 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut, a pinch of salt, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. If you are going to add coffee, mix the coffee powder with 1 tablespoon of warm water in a small bowl first, then add to the food processor. Grind well.
Step 3:
After 10 minutes, rinse the dates, and remove the pits. Add them to the food processor, followed by 2 tablespoons of honey or date molasses. Blend until it has a dough-like texture, then transfer to a bowl.
Step 4:
Make the mixture into squares.
Step 5:
Cut the dark chocolate into small pieces, then place in a heatproof bowl and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable or coconut oil, then melt using a double boiler or in a microwave. Once melted, add 1/4 cup of chopped hazelnuts.
Step 6:
Dip the square into the melted chocolate mixture, then transfer to a rack. Repeat with the remaining squares, then place in the refrigerator for 5 minutes to let it set.
