Pizza Casserole Recipe

This pizza casserole recipe by Catherine’s Plates on YouTube is an easy weeknight dinner idea to make if you need a quick meal. Casserole recipes are always cheesy goodness, and Catherine always has some of the best casserole recipes. I love how she added plenty of sauce because I love a saucy pasta where it isn’t dry. I can imagine that the Italian sausage adds a lot of flavor to the casserole dish, and this is one of my two favorite meals in one. I love pizza and pasta, so this is a great carby meal that isn’t overly too much. The idea of pizza components in a pasta dish sounds unique but flavorful. I think it works well together because pizza and pasta are cheesy and saucy.

Ingredients:

• 1 (16 oz) box penne pasta uncooked
• 1 tbsp cooking oil
• 1 bell pepper diced
• 1 yellow onion, diced
• 1 lb ground Italian sausage uncooked
• 2 (24 oz) jars pasta sauce
• 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
• 3 cups mozzarella cheese
• 1 pkg pepperoni slices
• 2 tsp minced garlic

Directions:

First, preheat the oven to 350F. Cook the pasta per directions on the back of the package. While the pasta is cooking, in a large skillet, heat up cooking oil. Add in the ground Italian sausage, onion, and bell peppers. Cook until the sausage is brown, and onions and peppers are tender. Next, add the sausage sauce mixture into the drained pasta pot and mix until thoroughly combined. Pour the pasta mixture into a 9 x 13″ baking dish, and sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the casserole. Place pepperoni evenly over cheese. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.

This pizza casserole looks like a great recipe to make if I cannot decide if I want pasta or pizza. This is the best of both worlds and would satisfy both of my cravings.
