I recently got locked out of my backyard shed and I did not want to call a locksmith for One Hundred Dollars and I also did not want to get a giant pair of bolt cutters and ruin the lock and possibly my shed by clipping it off. So the logical thing to do was to search Youtube for a great tutorial on how to pick a lock and I found this fabulous video that explained exactly how locks work and how to pick locks with 2 simple lock picking tools you make from paper clips. You get started by making your 2 simple tools from a couple of spare paperclips.

They should look something like this.

Then you just insert your loop piece (the one on the bottom left of the above photo) about a fourth (1/4) of the way inside the key part of your lock and put a bit of tension on it with your fingertip.

Then you take that loop paperclip tool out and insert the picking tool that you have bent to a 45-degree angle and rake it across your pins until you see/ hear them come up.

Then you just insert your loop tool again and turn very gently until the lock magically pop open.

This little life hack is so easy to do and it works on a majority of locks because most locks work the same way. So if you lose your keys and get locked out, before calling a locksmith, why don’t you try this method, it might save you several hundred dollars.
